What is a pre-order?
A pre-order is a purchase of new content before it has been released! For D&D Beyond, this means that you can use and access your content as soon as it is ‘unlocked’ on the site! For physical local game stores this means they reserve and/or order a copy for you, and they are ready to hand you your new book on Release Day!
For our D&D Beyond Marketplace and D&D Store, a pre-order will generally provide digital content on the relevant Release or Early Access dates, and the physical copy will begin the shipping process closer to the Release Date!
Where can I pre-order?
Pre-orders are generally available from three different sources:
- D&D Beyond Marketplace (Digital-only for all regions, as well as Physical and Digital/Physical Bundles for US/Domestic orders)
- D&D Store (Physical and Digital/Physical Bundles for EU/UK/non-US orders)
- Local Game Stores (Physical books only, but they can sell retail-exclusive alternate cover books)
Why would I pre-order?
Pre-order items for Dungeons & Dragons can often include additional items or content! These extras can vary depending on which item has been purchased.

How do I redeem my digital product on D&D Beyond?
When you make a purchase including digital product on the D&D Beyond Marketplace, you will get access to that digital product soon after purchase. If the content appears to be accessible but is not appearing for you, we recommend checking your Entitlements!
When you purchase a Digital + Physical bundle from the D&D Store, you will be asked to provide an email address at checkout. You will later receive instructions via that email to access a code that grants you early access to the product on D&D Beyond. Your code can be redeemed at: dndbeyond.com/marketplace/redeem-key.
I preordered from one of the stores, can I pay more to add the content I didn’t get from another store?
The D&D Beyond Marketplace, the D&D Store, and Local Game Stores are separate entities and are not able to match content or promotions with one another. While there may be bonuses to preordering at one of these stores, it is not possible provide the promotions from another.
It is Early Access/Book release day, why can’t I access my content?
At the moment there isn’t a designated release time of day for Early Access or Release content. Most content is released on the morning of the relevant date, Pacific Time. If you’ve tried to access the content and it is not currently available, we recommend trying again later in the day.
If the content appears to be accessible but is not appearing for you after a successful redemption, we recommend checking your Entitlements!
