Maps Requires Browsers to have Hardware Acceleration Enabled

  • Updated

To use Maps, D&D Beyond's 2D Virtual Tabletop (VTT), your browser's Hardware Acceleration feature must be enabled. This setting allows your browser to utilize your computer’s GPU for smoother graphics and better performance. Without it, the VTT will fail to load and show an error.

To enable Hardware Acceleration, follow these steps:

  • Chrome: Go to chrome://settings/, click Advanced > System, and toggle on Use hardware acceleration when available. Restart Chrome.
  • Firefox: Type "about:preferences" in the address bar, scroll to Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings, and enable Use hardware acceleration when available. Restart Firefox.
  • Safari: Hardware Acceleration is enabled by default and cannot be manually disabled or adjusted. Ensure your macOS and Safari are up to date for the best performance.
