A Master Tier subscription is no longer necessary to use the basic functions of Maps. Anyone with a registered DDB account can be a Dungeon Master (DM) and host games on Maps for any registered players who also have a free D&D Beyond account. All registered DDB accounts have access to basic rules monster tokens from both 2014 and 2024 versions of the game as well as nine basic maps and nine animated versions of those maps.
Additionally, any DM, with or without a subscription, can also use any content they’ve purchased in the Marketplace. They can also use non-homebrew content owned by another player in the campaign, as long as anyone in the campaign has a Master Tier subscription and enables content sharing for that campaign.
