Do I need to purchase additional game content to use this?

No additional purchases are needed to use Maps VTT. That said, in addition to the basic monster tokens and maps you get for free, and content shared by other players in the campaign, the DM can use any tokens and maps from products they’ve purchased on the Marketplace.
