The top portion of the sheet (darker background) is what we call the Character Header.
Basic/core statistics and information are found here. You can see your character's Portrait, Name, Species, Class, and Level. You can also interact with the Short Rest and Long Rest buttons, and can click the hammer and anvil Go to builder icon to go to the Character Builder for the character. Also, if the character is in a campaign, you can click on the Campaign Name to see it, and even select "Launch game" to open up the Maps VTT.
Clicking your character's portrait or name will reveal a character menu with various actions:
- You can change your character's Name.
- You can click Change Sheet Appearance to customize the current Decorations applied to your sheet, including your Character Portrait, the current Frame, Theme, Backdrop, and whether you want the windows dark with Underdark mode.
- Manage Character & Levels takes you to the builder to modify your character.
Manage Experience opens a window to manage your character levels (for Milestone advancement) or XP. - Character Settings opens up another way to modify your Preferences, like Sources, Dice Rolling, and other Optional Features.
- Game Log opens your record of recent dice rolls and lets you choose who in the campaign can see them.
- Short Rest opens a window to track Hit Dice and reset Limited Use abilities, as does Long Rest.
- You can also Export your character sheet to a PDF file to use outside of D&D Beyond.
