With the recent updates to the character builder, we are working to update our documentation. The Article below has not yet been updated, so there may be some differences from the current experience.
Help Text
Help text is turned on by default - it's helpful for most players starting out with the builder. You can turn it off or back on by clicking/ tapping the (?) icon in the builder header:
Player Choices
Throughout the builder, things that require your attention will be marked with an icon (!) as seen here:
Look for these (!) icons in order to make the choices that are needed to complete character creation.
Sheet Readiness
In the builder, a blank character is created as soon as you enter the process to better protect your work. Until a character has certain essential parameters defined (Class, Background, Species, and Ability Scores), you cannot access either the digital sheet or export your character.
Once a class, background, species, and ability scores are determined, the character is now "Sheet Ready," and you can now view the character's digital character sheet. You will know that a character is sheet ready when the character sheet icon changes from being greyed out to being white, both of which can be seen here:
My Characters Page
Once a character is created, you will be able to access it on your My Characters page, which lists all of your created characters. On this page you can:
- Create a Character
- See how many Characters and Character Slots you have. (If you have a DDB subscription you have Unlimited slots.)
- Search your characters by Name, Level, Class, Species, or Campaign.
- View, Edit, Copy, or Delete your characters, or choose to Leave Campaign.
- Sort those characters in a variety of ways, including Created (Newest and Oldest), Name (A-Z and Z-A), Level (Low to High and High to Low), and Modified (Latest and Oldest).
- Download a blank character sheet.
- Access the Settings options.
