The content that can be used on your character sheet can be managed through the sources toggles. Be default, all content toggles are enabled for all sources. If you do not want to use a specific category, you can Disable it in the sheet settings. Core D&D Content will always be enabled and does have a toggle to disable.
What is considered “Core D&D”?
The books and sources that will be considered “Core D&D” are as follows:
- D&D Free Rules (2024)
- Player’s Handbook (2024)
- Dungeon Master’s Guide (2024)
- Monster Manual (2024)
Where can I find the toggles to change the sources on my Character Sheet?
You can find the toggles in the following places:
- On an existing Character by clicking Manage and then clicking Character Settings
- Within the Character Builder on the Home tab when initially creating your character, or on an existing character by clicking Manage, and then clicking Manage Characters & Levels
Enabling/Disabled a Source Category
By Default, all content categories are enabled and toggled is switched to the right and colored. After being disabled, a toggle will be switched to the left and show in grey. Clicking on a toggle will switch it between the two states.
What books fall into these Categories?
Content available to toggle on your character sheet falls into the following categories:
Homebrew Content | Any content created by you through the homebrew tools, or made by others and shared to you or added to your Homebrew Collection. |
Expanded Rules | Any D&D content created by Wizards that is not marked with a Legacy tag, nor included in the Core Rulebooks. |
Legacy | Previous versions of content that has had a new version released in another rulebook. This includes the 2014 Players Handbook and content that is only compatible with 2014 Classes. |
Partnered Content | Content produced by one of our Partners, categorized with a separate toggle by the Partner Name. |
If something is re-released in a new source, what toggle will I need to select to use it?
When content is re-released in a new source, the content will be considered part of the most recent source it was included in but all users will still retain access. Unless released in a Core rulebook, these will stay in the “Expanded Rules” toggle.
If there have been major changes, and both versions remain available, the previous version will be labeled as “Legacy” and be available only if you enable the “Legacy” toggle.
If content from a Partner is re-released, it will remain tied to the same toggle with that Partner’s Name.
I have more questions regarding a specific magic item/spell/subclass.
